About the Role

As General Manager, you hold full P&L ownership and drive market strategy and aligned execution through decisive, entrepreneurial leadership in a hyper-competitive landscape. The General Manager (GM) is the single-threaded leader responsible for the strategy, growth, and P&L of the Uber Eats business across the country. This high-impact role requires an entrepreneurial mindset, exceptional commercial judgment, and robust operational skills to launch and lead one of Uber Eats' most dynamic European markets.

You will set the vision, define the local strategy, help build and lead the local team, and act as the primary face of Uber Eats to the media, government, and key restaurant partners/CEOs in [the market]. You'll partner closely with the Regional leadership team to advocate for the market and leverage global resources for local success.

This role demands a 'Go Get It' mentality, requiring a rare mix of commercial grit and operational discipline. By leveraging Uber’s global infrastructure, you will scale the business with precision, navigating a complex matrix to ensure we don’t just adapt to the industry, we define it.

What You'll Do:

This role requires a unique balance of strategic leadership, commercial command, and hands-on operational excellence.

  • Strategic mindset: Create competitive advantage through differentiated strategy and flawless execution. You’ll design resilient local systems and processes that transform insights into scalable operations, balancing long-term goals with agility. You’ll leverage centrally built tools and spend your time using them to make high-level strategic decisions and drive relentless continuous improvement.

  • Commercial & P&L Ownership: Partner with Sales to define revenue targets. Drives key enterprise partnerships and support teams to exceed targets, challenging approaches to ensure efficiency and ROI. Unlike many Country Manager roles, you own the full local P&L. This is the ultimate training ground for a future CEO, focusing on the commercial levers that actually grow the business.

  • Hands-on Entrepreneurship: This role requires operational grit and analytical thinking - you’ll build with the agility of a startup, building, fixing, and scaling process amidst ambiguity, demonstrating "Zero-to-One" hustle.

  • Policy & Industry Ambassadorship: Engage CEOs and Ministers, leveraging your gravitas and authority to shape government policy and influence senior-level agendas as the local market ambassador for Uber Eats.

  • Matrixed Collaboration: Foster relationships and influence across functions and lines of business to achieve shared goals. You’ll leverage an industry leading brand and operations team to scale fast, allowing you to focus on strategic leadership.

  • Building High-Performing Teams: Maintain a high talent bar, building and coaching a diverse team through transitions and ensuring a culture of accountability and innovation.

What You'll Need:

  • Commercial Acumen: Adept understanding of P&L levers and financial trade-offs. You’ll grow revenue and market share through sales execution and collaborating with Sales leaders. Foster key partnerships and motivate teams to exceed targets, challenging approaches to ensure efficiency and ROI by aligning win-win commercial interests.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Online Marketplace Experience: Background in multi-sided platforms (Supply vs. Demand) and a deep understanding of the unique levers required to balance them.
  • Public Policy Exposure: Experience operating in industry where business meets government, including existing relationships with policy bodies or regulators..
  • P&L accountability: You’ve been fully accountable for growing a P&L.
