About the Role
The Road Safety team seeks to make rare events even rare and make Uber safer for all users. Using telematics and other information, we work closely with our partners to understand, predict and mitigate road safety issues.
What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points
---- What the Candidate Will Do ----
You will own the driver pillar of our road safety risk eco-system. You will design and develop models to understand and predict risk and design experiments to test the effectiveness of evaluations. This is a highly cross-functional role, working with Product, Ops, and partner teams in marketplace to deliver a safer experience for everyone who uses Uber.
---- Basic Qualifications ----
- 5+ years of professional experience (or equivalent)
- Strong ML skills with both GLMs as well as modern methods like xgboost and deep learning.
- Experience working with large scale data.
- Experience designing and executing large scale experiments. Familiar with methods for experimentation beyond traditional A/B Testing.
---- Preferred Qualifications ----
- Experience with working with sensor data like IMU for event detection and activity recognition.
- Experience in risk modeling
- Understanding of actuarial methodologies.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$190,000 per year - USD$211,000 per year.
For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$190,000 per year - USD$211,000 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$190,000 per year - USD$211,000 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp.
