We’re seeking a dynamic, experienced Manager, Strategic Projects (Merchant Lead), to support M&A activities for the EMEA Delivery business. The role reports to the Head of Strategic Projects, EMEA, and works closely with the Regional General Manager and teams across Uber and acquired companies to drive key initiatives that support the new combined business goals and foster growth.
The role requires a comprehensive and strong programme management skill set, business acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate and influence multiple teams across functions, countries, and cultures. Importantly, due to the project's time sensitivity, domain expertise is a strong plus.
This role requires Extended Business Travel (assume up to 50% of time spent on the ground); regular T&E policies apply.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Overall migration strategy & plan for Merchant Tech and Operations migration, and through both businesses (e.g. define Tech requirements for adoptable features from the acquired companies to be built on Uber Tech stack, such as Growth features incentives, Commercial workforce planning for migration needs, such as contract resigning, feature parity set, etc.). Outlining the approach, key dependencies, and success metrics for a seamless transition.
- Ensure smooth Merchant Operations in the interim state, in partnership with the acquired companies and as business practices adjust to Uber standard; manage the migration of Merchant profiles, documents, and menus, while processing information per Uber policies
- Manage towards a successful end-state: seamlessly migrate tens of thousands of Merchants to Uber systems and Tech (e.g. UEO, UEM) without loss in P&L performance (e.g. topline, bottomline)
- Programme management of the relevant domain’s workstreams, including upward communication to EMEA LT and Global Programme SteerCo. Tracking progress, identifying and mitigating risks, and providing regular updates to senior leadership.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in programme management, stakeholder management and domain expertise
- Collaborate with EMEA Delivery leadership - including acquired companies leaders - to set the relevant programme goals, strategy, and KPIs and ensure those are aligned with the broader business strategy (e.g. trade-offs with other Global priorities, etc.). Defining clear objectives, performance indicators, and reporting mechanisms.
- Define and articulate Business Requirements for the relevant Tech features and migration enablers required for the successful integration of the acquired companies into Uber. Working with ENG and Product teams to specify system functionalities, data requirements, and integration points.
- Ensure XFN stakeholders across Tech, Payments, CommOps, and other teams have appropriate prioritisation, representation, and strategic thinking throughout the project. Fostering strong relationships, facilitating communication, and aligning priorities across different functional areas.
- Hold all parties across Uber and acquired companies accountable for shared goals and objectives to ensure the programme is delivered on time and within budget (e.g. financial and resource constraints). Monitoring progress, addressing performance issues, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Allow the leadership of the acquired companies to focus on running their existing businesses without disruption and support them in achieving their business objectives. Minimising the impact of the integration on day-to-day operations and providing the necessary support and resources to achieve their growth targets.
