About the Role
Safety and Inclusion's is a horizontal team across all of Uber's apps.
For Safety, the team designs experiences for Uber's global business for Riders and Earners to safely move around the world in all of Uber's mobility modalities, from cars to motorcycles. The team is also responsible for bringing Uber to new customer segments, including Family, Teens, Women, Accessibility across the Rider, Earner, and Eats apps.
---- What the Candidate Will Do ----
- Own design problems end-to-end, from initial concept through launch
- Influence product direction and roadmap from a user first point of view
- Create wireframes, visual designs, and prototypes to solve complex UX problems
- Design systems to create simple, elegant experiences that unlock our business goals while working with cross-function product stakeholders to set vision and drive alignment
- Identify future product and design opportunities, working as a critical thought partner to your counterparts in Product, Engineering, Data Science, Marketing, and Operations
- Present work in various mediums and fidelities throughout the design process
- Give and solicit feedback from other designers to continually raise our bar for quality
- Partner with our UX research team to understand the needs of our customers and integrate findings into design approaches
- Mentor junior designers
- Conduct your own UX research as a part of your core process
- Brainstorm, critique, and iterate with your Design colleagues
- Engage in points of collaboration with Product Management, Data Science, Product Marketing, and Engineering to build your designs
- Ship, measure, and improve your designs based on quantitative and qualitative feedback
---- Basic Qualifications ----
- 9+ years experience in designing mobile products
- Proficiency with Figma or similar tools and prototyping methods
- Experience working and collaborating in a tech environment
- A portfolio showing your high-quality, thoughtful UI and UX work
---- Preferred Qualifications ----
- Experience leading product design projects end to end
- Excellent system level thinking and building for scale
- Exceptional UX, Interaction Design, and Prototyping skills
- Robust UI/Visual Design skills with a focus on Micro-Interactions
- Proficiency in using the latest tools to build designs and prototypes as well as a strong desire to learn new ones
- Experience designing complex tools for enterprise or consumer applications - building on Android, iOS, and web products
- Experience working on systems or service design
- Solid understanding of Design Systems and how to contribute to them
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills
- Ability to manage stakeholders, requirements, and deliverables independently
- Strong understanding and application of user-centered design methods and principles.
- Experience working, collaborating and leading XFN teams in a multifaceted, rapid-growth environment
- Ability to articulate your design work and rationale to your peers and cross-functional team
- A degree in HCI, Graphic Design, or a related field
