About the Role
The Payments organization at Uber builds and owns the internal platforms that power payments, commerce, and financial operations across the company. Our team develops and supports critical tools used daily by engineering, operations, finance, and support teams around the world.
As an L4 Engineer, you will contribute to designing and building reliable, scalable systems that play a key role in how money moves across Uber’s global platform. Your work will directly impact the efficiency, accuracy, and resilience of Uber’s financial workflows.
What You Will Do
Design, build, and maintain features for internal payments and commerce tools used across Uber
Develop intuitive, high-performance APIs that support user interfaces and integrate with frontend and backend systems
Partner closely with cross-functional teams to deliver well-defined projects from design through production
Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code; actively participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards
Grow within Uber’s engineering ecosystem while contributing to team-level technical discussions and decisions
Basic Qualifications
Experience building production-ready backend systems or applications using Go or similar programming languages
Hands-on experience developing backend services or APIs using one or more general-purpose programming languages
Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, APIs, testing, and debugging
Preferred Qualifications
Experience owning features across both backend and frontend components
Familiarity with internal tools, admin platforms, or enterprise-facing applications
Exposure to distributed systems, data-driven applications, or high-reliability domains such as payments, finance, or commerce
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with product managers, designers, and engineering partners
