POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Accounts Payable Associate
DEPARTMENT: Accounting
REPORTS TO: Accounting Supervisor
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
Position Summary:
The Accounts Payable Associate will be a key member of our expanding Accounting team, responsible for accurately maintaining the organization's financial records. This role requires initiative and resourcefulness in problem-solving, as well as the ability to analyze trends to propose effective procedures. Building strong relationships with vendors and internal staff is essential. We encourage team members to share their insights and recommendations to enhance both individual and organizational success.
Responsibilities:
- Review invoices, expense reports, credit card receipts for accuracy.
- Enter accounts payable transactions in Sage Intacct and attach support.
- Ensure proper coding of transactions.
- Balance and reconcile vendor and credit card statements.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Maintain vendor information, address and respond to vendor inquiries.
- Maintain electronic filing systems for accounting files
- Secondary Responsibilities:
- Back up other team members during PTO or illness
- Provide additional support to the Finance and Operations team as needed.
- Other duties as needed.
Requirements:
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of three years of equivalent experience in Accounting.
- Job experience in accounts payable for a minimum of 5 years
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and data management skills
- Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Strong desire to learn new skills and comfort working in an evolving environment
- Proven aptitude to manage and juggle many competing priorities
- Able to move fluidly between collaborative and independent work styles
- Curious and entrepreneurial mindset
- Excel skills and experience with ERP systems such as Netsuite/Great Plains/ SAP/SAGE Intacct, preferred
- Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Miscellaneous Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screen as required by airline regulations and company policies.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. per the Immigration Act of 1968.
- Southern Airways participates in E-Verify.
- Fluency in English.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Computer, office equipment, phone skills.
- Ability to work within a 24/7 operation, including holidays.
- Must be able to meet all physical requirements related to aircraft weight limitations before and during employment.
