Senior DevRel Engineer (IDP):
Harness is seeking a Senior DevRel Engineer to drive the technical documentation and other related content for our Internal Developer Portal product.
This is a high-impact, high-visibility individual contributor role that requires excellent writing skills and technical depth and effective cross-functional execution spanning Engineering, Sales, Marketing, UX, Research, Customer Success and Support.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Technical Documentation
- Write and maintain comprehensive technical, yet user-friendly, documentation for the Internal Developer Portal(IDP) product including user guides, tutorials, videos, API references, and troubleshooting resources
- Identify & create content that reduces customer time-to-value
- Develop code examples, configuration samples, and best practices documentation
- Work closely with product managers and engineers to understand feature requirements and technical details and align documentation with product release cycles
Quality & Standards Implementation
- Follow and help refine documentation standards, style guides, and content templates
- Participate in content audits, cross-product reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers
- Ensure continuous improvement by tracking documentation quality metrics for owned product and focusing on improvements over time
Customer-Focused Content Strategy
- Partner with customer success and support teams to identify common user questions, feedback, and pain points
- Develop persona-based content that serves different user types (developers, DevOps engineers, platform teams) & reflects real-world use cases
- Support sales and customer success teams with technical content for customer engagements
About You
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience writing technical documentation, preferably in a DevOps, developer tools, or infrastructure software company
- Good understanding of software development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps workflows
- Proficiency and experience with modern documentation tools and platforms
- Familiarity with markup languages (Markdown, HTML) and version control systems (Git)
- Experience with scripting languages and creating code or config-as-code samples
- Excellent writing and communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
- Understanding of technical SEO and content optimization practices

Work Location
The successful candidate will be expected to be in Harness' Bangalore office 3x / week.
