Job Description
AppliedVR is looking for a mission-driven Data Engineer with a passion for transforming healthcare through innovative technology.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Snowflake, Python, PySpark, and modern data engineering architecture patterns. Reporting to the Manager, Data Engineering & Analytics and working closely with the Applications Development & Product teams based stakeholders, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and platforms to support our data-driven decision-making processes.
Roles & Responsibilities (are not limited to the following):
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines using Snowflake, PySpark, and Python.
- Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Architect and implement modern data engineering solutions, including data lakes, data warehouses, and streaming data platforms.
- Ensure data architecture aligns with business requirements and supports analytics and reporting needs.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and data engineering solutions.
- Develop and enforce best practices for data governance, data quality, and data security.
- Tune and optimize SQL queries, data pipelines, and database performance.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance issues and implement solutions.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance data engineering processes and tools.
Experience and Skills Preferred
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on Snowflake, Python, and PySpark.
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or equivalent experience
- Experience with modern data technologies including:
- Hands-on experience and expertise in data manipulation using tools such as Python, SQL, Postgres, and DBT.
- Proficient with industry-standard reporting tools such as Looker and Tableau
- Strong experience in handling complex data pipelines that span multiple technologies, such as airflow, DBT, postgres, MySQL, and others.
- Familiar with PHI and PII data filters to ensure appropriate data reports
- Strong analytical skills, a real passion for working with data and strong interest in solving data problems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Entrepreneurial mindset that thrives in a startup environment and can adapt to evolving business needs
- Ability to work autonomously, remotely, in dynamic fast-paced startup environment

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $152,000 - $165,000. The salary range describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this position across all US locations. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to relevant qualifications, depth of experience, skill set, certifications, training, education, and specific work location. The compensation packages may be adjusted based on candidate work location, due to differences in the cost of living for the given location.
